- Berklee scholarship!!
John has received a scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music in the USA next year. However, the scholarship does not cover the full cost so John is eager to find a sponsor. - Described as ‘a young uprising talent...’ by BBC Radio 2, John Dignam’s amazing acoustic fingerstyle guitar skills has earned him the support of several guitar players including Clive Carroll, Ian Parker and the Australian guitar wizard Tommy Emmanuel who said ‘John has a huge future ahead of him...’. John also holds an offer of a scholarship to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, which attracts the world’s most creative music students.
John is a highly accomplished and stylish acoustic guitarist who performs with precision, delicacy and passion. His music takes its form from several genres such as blues, folk and jazz. He is influenced by various artists including co-creator of the Nashville Sound Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed known as the Guitar Man, and one of the finest guitar players in the world, Tommy Emmanuel. John said,
“I saw a video of Tommy Emmanuel and I knew straight away that I wanted to do the same. So I got to work. I studied the video for months and learned my first fingerstyle piece The Man with the Green Thumb. I didn’t put the guitar down. I started listening to Chet Atkins, Jerry Reed and Merle Travis and was totally inspired by their music. I learned as many songs as I could and battled with the intricate techniques.”
